North Carolina ASLTA (NC ASLTA) establishes a new SLPI: ASL. It is available for any candidate within and out of State who wishes to take Sign Language Proficiency Interview in ASL. The SLPI: ASL interviews are conducted through videophone and recorded for the raters. There are two plans: a) full report with diagnostic feedback; and b) report informing if a candidate has a rating of at least Advanced Plus or not which is a required rating for national ASLTA Provisional evaluation. This requirement becomes effective on January 1, 2009.
The NC ASLTA SLPI: ASL consists of interviewers and raters in North Carolina who have undergone trainings and some years of SLPI: ASL experience. Many of them are working in governmental and community services for deaf and hard of hearing, colleges/universities and businesses.
To apply for a NC ASLTA SLPI: ASL interview, you may enter the NC ASLTA website at www.ncaslta.org and download an application form for your SLPI: ASL interview. It has information about the fees for different plans.
If you wish to ask a question for more information, please contact Kathy Apperson, Statewide coordinator of NC ASLTA SLPI: ASL at NCASLTA-SLPI-ASL@msn.com.
NC ASLTA was founded as a chapter of national ASLTA in 1993.
